Welcome to Term 4!

Religious Education Units

UNIT ONE: Preferential option for the poor: What is justice for the poor? By the end of this unit, students will have explored the idea that some choices result in a more just and compassionate world; identified how acting fairly is an important way to show God’s love; considered Jesus’ teaching on the poor; and investigated the work of Caritas Australia related to this Catholic Social Teaching principle

UNIT TWO: Anticipating..   Strand: Scripture, Israel and Jesus Scripture is the living voice of God that speaks through a variety of literary forms that convey the original author’s intention at the time. Differentiate the style and author’s purpose from among a selection of literary forms contained in Scripture, speaking to their lives and their world

Strand: Christian Ethics - Personal and SociaL Through discipleship, Christians seek to grow in holiness, making loving choices that reflect the dignity of self, others and all of creation. Discern the role of conscience in developing and maintaining right relationships, where decisions are motivated by God’s love for all and a call to holiness.

ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION
  • I can explain the relationship between addition and subtraction
  • I can use efficient written strategies  to solve problems
    • Focus on partitioning, place value and split and jump
  • I can apply my addition and subtraction strategies to solve worded problems (including money).
MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION
  • I can recall multiplication facts for zeroes, twos, threes, fives and tens and related division facts
  • I can solve a multiplication problem including worded problems
  • I can solve a division problem including worded problems

GRADE 4
ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION
  • I can explain the relationship between addition and subtraction
  • I can use efficient written strategies  to solve problems
  • ​​Focus on partitioning, place value and split and jump
  • I can use equivalent number sentences involving addition and subtraction to find unknown quantities.
  • I can apply my addition and subtraction strategies to solve worded problems  (including money).
MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION
I can recall multiplication facts for threes, fours, sixes, sevens, eights and nines and related division facts 
  • I can solve a multiplication problem including worded problems
  • I can solve a division problem including worded problems
  • I can find patterns in number sequences for 3,4,6,7,8 and 9
  • I can use a range of efficient strategies to find the answer to a division fact e.g. understanding the relationship between multiplication and division (fact family for 3s, 4s, 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s)
