Welcome to Term 4! 
It is so exciting to have all of the children back in the classroom.

Religious Education Units

Sustainability of Creation​


 - I can understand my role as a co-creator with God to demonstrate respect for Earth, for people, and distribution.

 - I can promote a commitment to stewardship and care for God’s gift of Creation.

 - I can understand how to make loving choices and decisions that reflect dignity of Creation.

 - I can identify ways in which we can work towards living in harmony on this planet.

Numeracy Focus
I can count by ¼, ½, ⅕  , ⅓
Grade 3:
Fractions:
 - I can show ½, ¼. ⅓ and ⅕  of a collection.  - I can show ½, ¼. ⅓ and ⅕  on a numberline. 
- I can locate ½, ¼, ⅓ and ⅕  of a shape.
 - I can fold the same sized pieces of paper to show ½, ¼, ⅓ and ⅕.
 - I can count by ¼, ½, ⅕  , ⅓ 
 - I can solve word problems which involve unit fractions.
Grade 4:
Fractions:
 - I can make a fraction wall to show halves, quarters, eighths, thirds, sixths, fifths and tenths.
 - I can use my fraction wall to find equivalent fractions
 - I can locate quarters on a number line. I can locate halves on a number line.
 - I can locate thirds on a number line.
 - I can convert mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa
Decimals:
 - I can read decimal fractions to tenths
 - I can write decimal fractions to tenths
 - I can represent decimal fractions to tenths I can read decimal fractions to hundredths
 - I can write decimal fractions to hundredths
 - I can represent decimal fractions to hundredths
 - I can make connections between fractions and decimal notations


Geometric Reasoning
Grade Three:
 - Identify angles as measures of turn and compare angle sizes in everyday situations
Grade Four: 
 - Compare angles and classify them as equal to, greater than or less than a right angle
 - Revisit Place Value as well as Addition and Subtraction


Integrated Studies
 Unit One: Do we take more than we need?
We are learning:
 - about sustainability there are different views on how sustainability can be achieved
 - that our Earth has natural resources available to us that needs to be carefully used
 - that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are experts in sustaining the land 
 - the difference between renewable and non-renewable resources
 - actions we can take to use places and environments more sustainably
 - to encourage ourselves and others to protect the Earth
We will know we have been successful when:
We understand the importance of learning from our past to be able to live sustainably for the future


Unit Two: Who are the first Australians?
We are learning:
 - about the first people of Australia and where they lived
 - about Dreamtime stories
 - about the local Gunditjmara people, especially the special relationship they have between language, Country, Place and spirituality
 - significant days and weeks celebrated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
 - the symbolism of both the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders flags
We will know we have been successful when:
We acknowledge the connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have to Country and Place and how this affects their everyday lives.
