CHURCH AND TRADITION

The Holy Spirit empowers the Church community to be people of unity and justice through witness and ministry.

Generate and justify ways in which Christians as disciples respond to the call to be active witnesses to God's love in the world.

Numeracy Focus

What will Grade 3 be learning in Numeracy this term?

    Multiplication

    • I can recall multiplication facts (zeroes, twos, threes, fives and tens) by using a range of efficient mental strategies. (knowing the number sequences, doubling, count by 5s or 10s, double & add a group).
    • I can write a number sentence to match a word problem and vice versa
    • I can solve a worded multiplication problem
    • I can use a calculator to check my answers (correct and incorrect responses)
    • I can solve a multiplication problem using a written strategy 

    Division

    • I can recall division facts ( zeroes, twos, threes, fives and tens) using a range of efficient mental strategies (fact families, knowing the number sequences, doubling/halving, count by 5s or 10s,)
    • I can write a division number sentence to match a word problem and vice versa
    • I can solve a worded division problem
    • I can use a calculator to check my answers

    Measurement - Angles

    • I can identify angles as measures of turn and compare angle sizes in everyday situations.

    Algebra

    • I can describe, continue, and create number patterns resulting from performing addition or subtraction.
    • I can apply mathematical rules to numbers or shapes.

    Integrated Inquiry Unit - Who were the First Australians?

    We are learning:

    • about the first people of Australia and where they lived
    • about Dreamtime stories
    • about the local Gunditjmara people, especially the special relationship they have between language, Country, Place and spirituality
    • significant days and weeks celebrated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
    • the symbolism of both the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders flags
